we went to pulau bukom today! (the shell oil refinery there)
oil oil everywhere =P whad a fantastic place. the network of pipes on that place is 700km long!!
madness~ if u place the pipes end on end, they'll reach penang.
oil techinicians are paid $$$$ too!! $1,200 a month (basic sal only). u haven't i/c the allowances and bonuses!
waHhh =P and that's only for a technician!

Due to overwhelming demand and response, here comes Jonathan's Great Chemistry Laws again! =)
Reactivity Series
Anode:
(A - addition. Great oxidation processes always happen here. so when u see anode, think of oxidation. oxidation - addition)
In electroplating reactions, the anode breaks down (ionizes, dissolves) and reduces in size and mass.
Cathode:
This is the great place where you put the object you want to electroplate. If you want to have a golden electroplated cat, by all means, *place that filthy cat at the cathoe* and connect the current! :) tadah! and you've got your golden cat!)
*Don't try this at home.
Rules for electrolysis:
All solutions involved must be compounds of the source object you electroplating. ie, if you want a silver cat, *place your poor cat at the cathode, use silver as the anode and electrolyte must be silver nitrate / sulphate. Connect the current and you've got yourselve a nice cute silver cat!
*Again, Don't ever try this with ur cat.

Elements/comounds nearer to the bottom of both series get displaced much easier.
To avoid confusion as to why although hydroxide is lower than sulphate in the electrochemical series but yet hydroxide is still displaced, Dr Jonathan usually reloacates the hydroxide to be above chloride in the anode series. This solves the confusion! But ah ha. My teacher says dun eva do this in your o level =P you'll get penalized. if you really desperately want to follow my method, i suggest that you scribbe it down in pencil but erase it before u haND oin ur script.
All Displacement Reactions are EXOTHERMIC and REDOX in nature.
